The Camo Shop Offers Camo Gift Ideas for Father's Day

TULSA, Okla. - With Father's Day fast approaching, The Camo Shop has some new gift ideas for men who love the outdoors.

"There are so many camo gifts out there for the hunter and outdoorsman," said Tony Brobst, president of The Camo Shop. "The best thing to get him is something useful that reflects his passion for the outdoors."

One of Brobst's personal favorites is the camo briefcase. Many camo briefcases have padded interior compartments for laptops. And if he needs to carry a lot, an expandable camo briefcase lets Dad fit everything into one bag.

Another camo gift suggestion is a Father's Day classic: the tie. Camo ties come in a number of patterns, including RealTree, Mossy Oak, MAX-4, and Wetlands patterns.

"Since most men have to wear a tie at one point or another, it makes sense to have one that they like," said Brobst. "Camo ties work with just about everything."

Something else to consider when picking out a camo gift for Father's Day: does Dad have something that's about to need replacing, like a wallet or a watch? Bring on the camo.

Dads who like gadgets have some great options, too.

"We've got a camo digital watch that's got a compass, barometer, and altimeter," Brobst said. "It's handy for work, out on the lake or in the woods."

The Camo Shop Father's Day Gift Guide: Camo Gifts for the Professional

Father's Day is fast approaching. Have you started considering what to give your dad?

To help you prepare, here's the first part of a 2-part article that will give you some ideas for Father's Day camo gifts, whether you're looking for something to make him laugh or something he can use.

In this first article, we'll focus on some camo gifts for the consummate professional. (Hey, even the most avid outdoorsman still has to work occasionally.) Help your dad bring his love of the outdoors into his 9-to-5 job with these camo gifts.

Camo Gift Guide #1: Camo briefcase or laptop bag

What father doesn't need a place to keep all his work files? A new briefcase is always a good gift idea, and it's even better when it's a camo briefcase. If your father has a laptop, look for a briefcase that has a padded interior compartment so he can fit everything in one bag. It also helps to find a briefcase that's expandable, so that it's easy to get thing in and out.

Camo Gift Guide #2: Camo tie

Ties may sound like a traditional gift, but these are the ties that will make your dad the envy of his friends around the water cooler. Are any of them lucky enough to have a family member give them a camo tie?

Chances are good you can find a necktie in your dad's favorite hunting pattern, like Mossy Oak Breakup or Realtree Hardwoods, and they go well with most suit colors.

Camo Gift Guide #3: Camo wallet

If your dad has had the same wallet since the 1980s, it may be time to encourage him to update. That's easy when he's upgrading from the basic brown or black leather to a nice camo wallet.

If you want to help him make the transition, look for a wallet that's the same style as his old one: for example, if he's been using a bi-fold wallet for as long as you can remember, look for a camo bi-fold wallet instead of a tri-fold.

Camo Gift Guide #4: Camo digital watch

Finding the proper digital watch as a camo gift can help your father both on the clock and while he's out in the woods or on the lake. You can find digital watches that include a compass, altimeter, chronograph and barometer, so not only does it tell time, but it also does other cool stuff that your dad can show off.

How to Use Camouflage Rugs in Home Decor

When you think of redecorating, where does your mind first go? Painting the walls? Adding some wallpaper? Getting new bedding?

How often do you think about redecorating your floor?

You may think that would require too much effort: tearing up and replacing carpet, or getting rid of linoleum to lay down tile. But that's not so! Just adding a camouflage rug to the decor can spruce up your favorite area. Here are some tips for using rugs in your camo décor.

Do I have to start with my rug, or end with it?

Really, it can go either way. Some experts say you should pick your rug out first; others say you should save it for last. If you've found a camouflage rug that you really love, it's perfectly fine to build the room around it. A good rug can really tie a room together.

Indoors and outdoors

With the weather getting warmer, you'll be spending as much time outdoors as you will be indoors. Add a camouflage rug to your favorite outdoor area -- whether it's a back porch or a dock out at the lake. Just make sure that it's weather-resistant if you're going to leave it outdoors all year round.

Camouflage rugs and carpet

Most people think of hard floors, like wood or tile, when they think of adding rugs. However, you can still rock a camouflage rug on carpet! As long as the carpet is fairly low-pile, you can put your rug wherever you'd like.

A rug can add a splash of color to the floor, or help to section off an area of the room without adding a physical divider. If you're worried about the rug sliding on carpet, anchor it with furniture, or use double-sided tape to secure it.

Sizes

If your camouflage rug is too large, it will make the room look small. If it's too small, it won't fit well with your room. A good rule of thumb is to get a rug two feet shorter than the shortest wall of your room. So, if your room is 8 ft. x 10 ft., you would look for a rug that was 6 feet long.

If you're using the rug to section off an area of the room, make sure it's large enough to cover the area, included the front third to half of the furniture. If it's in the dining room, the rug needs to be large enough to not just hold the table, but all the chairs when they're pulled out (which means an extra 18 to 24 inches).

These tips should be enough to get you started on the road to rug happiness. Happy decorating!

New Camouflage Rugs at The Camo Shop Feature Mossy Oak, Camo & Wildlife Patterns

TULSA, Okla. -- With spring in full swing, many people can't wait to redecorate, especially in outdoor areas like lake homes and cabins. The Camo Shop has added several new camouflage rugs to their inventory.

Mossy Oak, Advantage Classic, MAX4, and Realtree camouflage rugs can soften hard wood floors, tile, or concrete. Wildlife Area rugs feature majestic elk, deer, eagles, ducks, bass, and Labradors. The camouflage rugs are built to last, with a fiber twist level 25 percent higher than the industry standard. Soil- and stain-resistant Milliguard treatment makes for easier vacuuming and cleaning

Most of the rugs come in three sizes: 3x4, 4x6, or 5x8.

"They'll fit just about any room, whether small or large, indoors or out," said Tony Brobst, president of The Camo Shop. "If you want to add camo to one of your spaces, a camouflage rug is a great way to do that."

And the rugs aren't just for hard floors, like wood, tile, or concrete. If a house has low-pile carpet, owners can use the rugs on top of that.

"If you're worried about a rug slipping around on carpet, anchor it under furniture or secure it on the bottom with double-sided tape," said Brobst. "It's a good way to add some color to your carpet, or to hide unsightly areas."

Rugs can also be used to section off a room. For example, if you had a game room upstairs and wanted part of that to be a kid's play area, you could use a camouflage rug to delineate the play area from the rest of the room.

"Just make sure that the rug is large enough to cover the area that you want, including the front one-third of any furniture you have on it," Brobst said. "You can use multiple camouflage rugs in one room to create several spaces in there. Just make sure the rugs complement each other."

Of course, inside the home isn't the only place to use a rug. Brobst suggests adding one outside to give your porch or patio a little something extra.

"Since the weather's changed, and you'll be spending a lot of time outside, why not add a rug to your porch or patio?" Brobst said. "A durable camouflage rug softens outdoor living spaces."

Camo Furniture: Decorating Your Game Room

Are you looking to redecorate your game room in the camo fashion? First, allow me to congratulate you on your taste. If your friends and family are as into the outdoors as you are, they'll enjoy the fun gatherings at your place (and they may be just a little bit jealous!).

With a little paint, some camo furniture, and a few other decorations, you can have a great outdoorsy haven indoors in no time.

Decking the walls

The best colors for a camo room are going to be earthy colors, and neutrals will be the easiest to work with. You can go light (like a tan or off-white) or dark (like a chocolate brown), but you won't want to do anything bright (like red) or pastel. (Could you imagine camo furniture and décor in a room with lavender walls? Ick!)

You could also do camo wallpaper, either on all the walls or just on one that you'd like to be a focal point. If the wallpaper is too much for you, a camo wallpaper border could offer just a touch of pattern with the solid color of the walls.

Warming up the floors

If the outdoors is what you're going for, hardwood floors would be the best. They're easy to clean and they keep the whole camo theme going. You could also do acid-stained concrete, and add a few camo area rugs.

If you prefer carpet, keep it a neutral earth tone. Since it's a game room and it will be a high-traffic area, a darker carpet would be a good idea. It would be impossible to keep a light-colored or white carpet clean with people (especially kids) coming and going and bringing in food and drinks.

Camo furniture

The kind of camo furniture you get will depend heavily on who's going to most use your game room. Do you have young children, and you want a place for them and their friends to play? Then add some kids' camo furniture in with your regular-sized stuff. The kids will appreciate having furniture their own size.

If adults are the only ones who will be using your game room, then you can save the kid's camo furniture for when your nieces and nephews visit.

With just a little planning, you can have a camo game room that will make you happy and have all your friends talking. Happy decorating!
